László Neogrády

Son of Antal Neogrády and a former hussar lieutenant who trained under Ede Balló into one of Hungary's best-loved naturalists: snow-laden forests and winter scenes of the Tatras, painted with vigorous impasto and glowing atmosphere, made his name. From 1922 he exhibited regularly at Budapest's Műcsarnok and won the Károly Horváth Prize; his works are owned by the Hungarian National Gallery and the Iowa State University museum and are fixtures of Budapest auctions — with eight paintings he is the second most numerously represented artist of our collection.
