Artists of the Collection
Peter Trembáč
* 1957, Spišská Sobota
A Poprad painter of the Spiš and Tatra landscape — and the continuer of a family tradition: his father was the painter Michal Trembáč (1929 – 2015). Born in Spišská Sobota, he studied printmaking at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Košice (1974 – 1977) and in 1996 completed a study stay in Belgium combined with an exhibition at the Robinsons Art Gallery in Knokke-le-Zoute. He devotes himself to painting, drawing and illustration; he has held solo exhibitions since 1978 in Slovakia and Poland, in Toronto and Kraków, and took part in group shows including the Warsaw Poster Biennale (1983) and Danubiana (1999). His works regularly appear at Slovak auctions; Gerlachov in our collection captures the country beneath the highest peak of the Carpathians, which the painter has in sight every day.
