A bouquet of white and pinkish chrysanthemums in a blue jug against a dark ground — a decorative floral still life in a cool blue harmony. The work, in a gilt frame, adds to the intimate, interior register of the collection.

Gabriela Schillerová
1924 Nové Mesto nad Váhom–1993 Bratislava
A painter of floral still lifes and a muralist from Nové Mesto nad Váhom. Gabriela Schillerová-Dimitrova studied at the Department of Drawing and Painting of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava under Ján Mudroch; she worked in Bratislava, where she died in 1993. She is recorded in Marian Váross's Dictionary of Contemporary Slovak Art (1967).
Her bouquets, sunflowers and irises regularly appear at Slovak and Czech auctions; Web umenia records twelve of her works, among others in the Slovak National Gallery and the East Slovak Gallery. Bouquet of Chrysanthemums in our collection belongs to her most characteristic genre.
