Ferenc Ujváry
1898 Kisoroszi–1971 Kisoroszi
A painter of the Danube landscape and sunlit courtyards with oleanders — and the son of a famous father: born in Kisoroszi on the Szentendre Island of the Danube to the painter Ignác Ujváry, he learned his craft at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts (1919–1923) and directly in his father's studio. Alongside painting he pursued printmaking and photography; from 1924 he exhibited at the Műcsarnok. His naturalist-post-impressionist „leánderes udvarok“ — courtyards with oleanders — became his hallmark, and the Courtyard in our collection is precisely this subject.
